License plate fell off, car was parked, got a ticket, can I contest it?

I got a ticket at 10:30 this morning on my parked car. My license plate had fell off (I didnt notice it) and my car was parked without the plate. I will go tomorrow at around 12 pm to get a new one (26 hours after the ticket was issued). I was wondering if I could contest and win this ticket. It's only 52$ but I was thinking of saying I got the ticket in between the moment I realised I had no plate and the moment I purchased a new one. It's kind of unfair to penalise me...if I lose the ticket, I need some time to get a new one! I was also not driving at the moment I received the ticket, which could be proof of me being responsible - I noticed I had no plate so stopped driving immediately (hence the parked car). By the way, I am from Quebec, Canada. Any ideas for arguments in court? Do you think I could win this? Is it worth it?
